Until I got home i completely forgot the media fast :P. But then I made an effort to stop going online. It actually makes a difference in your work if you don't have distractions. For me, this is a good and bad thing. It is good because I didn't have anything to hinder my work. But I usually set a goal for myself that I will get sometime online if I finish my work so really, I didn't have any motivation to do my work.
I have to agree with your point on how it doesn't distract you from your work because I feel that it helps me in the same way. I can also relate with your point of having a goal, but that has actually been a good thing for me this week. Because instead of having a motivation to have more screen time, I look forward to other things such as reading, or just hanging out with my family for a little bit.
i agree with your point about the distractions, because sometimes, when i go online just to even watch a small video or check something, i end up taking half an hour before i relize it, and i have to do my h.w either late at night, or early in the morning
I agree with you because usually i pick up my phone when i come home from school and end up wasting so much time, and then when i do my homework i tell myself that i can watch after so i can finish but no there isn't much motivation,.
I actually have to admit that I did a very good job on my media fast. I didn't play any gaming systems, nor did I watch television. The best strategy to avoid something is by remembering Allah, because when you remember him, you start leaving behind everything you are obsessed with in this life, and you just focus on Allah SWT. Some goals that I have been obtaining to avoid being on games or watching videos is by reading Quran, and that helped me a lot.
Alhamdulillah the Media Fast is going pretty good alhamdulillah, except for the occasional slip up. However, not using my media isn't all that hard because when I am on the media I am usually just using it to read. So, with that I just stick to my paper copies of the books. It's kind of relieving in a way, going back to the original way of reading a book, and I am happy we are having this activity. Not only do I try to stick to my paper copies in order to stay off the media, but I try to organize my day and put it in order so that way I am able to always busy inshallah. And this activity also helps me stay on track so I can get much more done and especially with this week coming up, I will definitely need all the help I can get.
I agree Amani because I only use my media for games or songs/television and now that I am trying to stop I noticed that I spend time drawing, baking and wanting to go play outside. I also like to read normal books because usually I read on this website that has all books and now I spend more time at the library. I am kind of anxious for the weekend though because that is usually when I spend all my free time on media. I hope I do my media fast well
For me, the media fast was easier than i thought it would be on monday, but not on tuesday. i think thst this was because on monday, i went to a dinner, and on tuesday, i diddnt have much going on. therefore, while i spent 0 hours of media on mondat, i spent 1.5 hours on tuesday. so basically, the best strategy for me at least, is to keep your self busy with good stuff, like qur'an, or even other games like sports. IA, i will us this observation to help me with the fast throughout the week.
it started off horrible because i was sick so all i did was sleep and go on my phone but now I am using it less. I am doing homework early so i dont have any extra time. I can start going outside if the weather permits and can just talk with family.
The media fast is something, in which people will freak out. The fact that instead of using the media, use your time to do other activities, is very good. To add on, knowing that people, a century ago, didn't have this stuff, really made me think on how they use to spend their time. The best strategy I use, is to keep myself busy. If your about to go online. I try to force myself to do something else.(It barely ever works) Even telling my mom to tell me to do more chores helps. Because it occupy's my time. Or get out of the house, it helps because your always on the go, and there wont be time to go on your phone. However, once we hit the weekend, I will try to keep this up, but for the most part.
May the odds, be ever in our favor.
I agree Hassam because now that I can't go on my media I am eager to busy my self and I even end up helping my siblings which I never do. I hope that I can pull it through during the weekend because that is usually when I catch up on shows and movies.
Stop with the hunger games:)
At the start of the media fast I forgot all about it until I visited the weebly on Monday. But ever since then I have tried my best not to use media by remembering Allah and reading Quran. Also the media fast made me go to sleep earlier and I noticed I had more energy at the start of the day. Furthermore, I starting to get used to not using as much media as I had previously used and I strive to use less media for the remainder of the week and even trying not use media for longer.
On the first day of media fast, when I would have my phone i would often forget that it was media fast week and use it but after a day or two, it got easier. The first day was the most difficult and i needed reminders. It is important to really try during media fast because after the first day, i realized how much time i spend on my phone and how i spend my free time on media. When i didn't have my phone or laptop or TV, it showed me that i should be compensating with other things that will actually benefit me. To improve, I think that i should plan more things to do throughout my week so i don't just waste it by doing nothing.
The media fast is going pretty well. Iv'e been too busy with everything to even use any electronics for long.
I'll start off by saying that, it was an interesting week. Although i usually set a goal that after i finish my work i'd go online. But now that the restriction has been set, i end up with all this free time. So, what i'd do is that i'd maybe play some basket ball outside or play with my little brother and help him with his spelling words and such. And if nothing else to do, i'd be drawing.
The fact that instead of using the media, use your time to do other activities, is very good. To add on, knowing that people, a century ago, didn't have this stuff, really made me think on how they use to spend their time. The best strategy I use, is to keep myself busy.
The media fast week is going okay. I usually end up forgetting that it's media fast week and have to try to remember and restrain myself because I always listen to music or use my phone for all types of social media or watch tv. During the first two days it was hard, but then it got easier. I would try different things to keep myself busy like reading or spending more time with my family.
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
